AF Natural Substrate is a nutrient-rich, peat and clay substrate for aquascapes and planted aquariums. Readily available micronutrients and plant food create a fertile, natural-like environment ideal for long-term plant support and growth.
AF Natural Substrate is well suited for the development of a healthy root system and for the growth of aquatic plants.
The natural cation exchange capacity (CEC) of peat and clay also absorbs excess nutrients from the water and either makes them available through the roots or releases them back into the water once it is depleted.
Features and benefits: Carefully selected peat creates excellent conditions for the root system and provides plants with all the necessary minerals and trace elements.
Clay improves texture and serves as a basis for excellent consistency.
Similar to peat, clay acts as a natural layer to store excess nutrients and maintain biological balance in the aquarium.
The micronutrient content has been supplemented under laboratory supervision to ensure that the aquatic plants are supplied with plenty of trace elements while the chemical balance of the aquarium remains in balance.
AF Natural Substrate is rich in micronutrients, so Aquaforest does not recommend using fertilizers containing micronutrients for the first three months unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency.
HOW TO USE:
? Install the heating cable if used.
? Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to a thickness of approx.
2-2,5 cm thick layer. ? Cover the bottom with about 3 cm of gravel or sand. ? Carefully fill the aquarium with about 15 cm of water.
In order not to disturb the substrate, we recommend placing a plate or bowl on the bottom and directing the water jet onto it. ? Place the plants in the substrate. ? Fill the aquarium with water.
10 L AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 litre aquarium with a bottom of 100 cm x 40 cm.
The substrate can lower and stabilize the pH of the water, so it is recommended to use an appropriate test or probe.
