Reef Zlements Carbo+ - 2,5L - Nutrient Solution

In order for bacteria and other microscopic organisms to assimilate nitrogen and phosphorus, carbon must be present in sufficient quantities.

As filtration systems become more efficient, low and ultra-low nutrient aquariums are becoming more common. These systems are often low-carbon. When a system is low on carbon, it means that 'biological filtration' is not operating as efficiently as it should, and nutrients such as NO3 and PO4 are likely to build up and become pollutants unless other forms of filtration are employed.
 
Reef Zlement's Carbo+ increases the growth and reproduction rate of microorganisms and improves biological filtration by allowing microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume nitrate and phosphate. These bacteria can then be transported away via mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums such as sponges, corals, mussels, tunicates, etc.
 
Reef Zlement's Carbo+ is a natural source of biologically safe carbon, replacing combustible sources such as ethanol or vodka.
 
When you start dosing Reef Zlements Carbo+ we recommend starting with 1ml/100L daily and increasing the amount up to 3ml/100L daily as needed.

Use reliable test kits for measuring NO3 and PO4 because if they are in the correct ratio (C 106:N 16:P 1) they should drop to the desired levels over time and eventually to 0ppm (which is not desirable ).

Once NO3 and PO4 have reached recommended levels, reduce the dose to ensure nutrients stay close to these levels and do not drop to 0ppm (our recommended levels are NO3 ~5ppm and PO4 ~0,04ppm).

If either NO3 or PO4 is trending towards 0ppm while the other is above 0ppm, your system is probably being constrained by the depleted nutrient and in this case the nutrient present is either not being reduced or is increasing over time. Dose Reef Zlements Nitro+ or Phos+ to remedy this deficiency and optimize your "biological filtration".

If you want a high nutrient input, high nutrient output system you can still dose the maximum daily dose of Reef Zlements Carbo+, but will likely need to dose Reef Zlements Nitro+ and Phos+ to ensure the correct nutrient ratio/level.
