Reef Zlement's S Sulfur (S / Sulfur / Sulphates) – Macro Elements
Sulfur is a macro element that is abundant in all reefs around the world, mostly in the form of sulfate.
Although sulfur is a macro element that is usually replenished with water changes and the addition of sulfate-containing food or other supplements, sulfur can still decrease in the aquarium. Because sulfur is highly associated with bacterial activity, the presence of sulfur at levels much lower or higher than those normally present in seawater can lead to bacterial problems.
When corals become ill due to pathogenic bacterial activity (e.g. STN/RTN) it is important to check the sulfur level through an ICP analysis and ensure it is within the ranges given below.
Nonetheless, the sulfur content has not yet been fully explored and the ideal levels have yet to be determined. However, we recommend a sulfur content of 900mg/l + -5% (ie 865-945mg/l) which has been proven to be safe.
Reef Zlement's S Sulfur, used in conjunction with a regular testing procedure, allows any aquarist to correct for sulfur levels to ensure the sulfur levels in their aquarium remain within the optimal range for their animals.
10 ml of Reef Zlements S Sulfur increases the sulfur concentration of 100 liters by ~3,5 mg/l.
