The Salifert Profi-Test NO² is suitable for the exact and reliable determination of the nitrate content in freshwater or seawater.
But fully desalinated water, osmosis water or water from the garden pond can also be reliably checked. Nitrite is very toxic to fish. In a well-established aquarium, no nitrite should be detectable. In newly set up aquariums, a nitrite content will be measurable for a short time. One speaks here of the so-called nitrite peak, which is a kind of measurement curve until full bacterial activity is reached. These bacteria break down the toxic nitrite into nitrate. Only when no more nitrite can be measured should the first fish be introduced.
The test set contains detailed instructions, the easy-to-read, finely graded color chart and a disposable syringe for taking the water sample. The Salifert Profi-Test NO² -nitrite- contains special components that make the measurement result far more accurate than with other test sets.
