Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium powder is ultra-concentrated crystalline calcium and carbonate hardness for dissolving in reverse osmosis water to produce the well-known Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium solution. This unique solution can cover the entire calcium and carbonate hardness needs of a typical reef aquarium. This ensures vigorous growth of hard corals, calcareous red algae and other reef organisms.
?
The high-yield product is suitable for all pool sizes and avoids the side effects of other methods of lime hardening: With Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium, the pH value remains stable; There is no excess CO2 and there is no risk of unwanted phosphates being introduced through broken coral. In addition, there is neither a gradual increase in salinity nor increased oxygen consumption by carbon compounds. The solution produced is suitable for both manual dosing and dosing pumps.
– Extremely high yield: 1 kg contains 307 g of calcium and approx. 43.000 °dH
– The pH value remains absolutely stable
– Does not introduce phosphates or excess CO2 into the aquarium
– Salinity remains constant
– No risk of oxygen depletion
– Suitable for all pool sizes
– Manufactured solution suitable for manual dosing and dosing pumps
Contains organic calcium salts.
1000 ml of the prepared solution provides the aquarium with approx. 43.000 mg calcium and 6000 °dH.
Preparation of the solution from powder:
The 700 g can of Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium powder is sufficient for 5 liters of dosing solution, the 1400 g can for 10 liters of dosing solution.
To prepare the liquid mineral mixture, dissolve 6 level measuring spoons (approx. 140 g) of Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium powder in approx. 900 ml of reverse osmosis water, resulting in a total of 1 l dosing solution.

Dosage:
Start with a daily dosage of 5 ml Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium per 100 liters of aquarium volume and increase the daily dosage amount weekly by 2,5 ml per 100 liters of aquarium volume until you achieve constant carbonate hardness and calcium concentrations.
Once the dosage is established and the system parameters are stable, regular measurements of calcium or carbonate hardness allow you to monitor changes in the system and necessary dosage adjustments. The other parameter only needs to be monitored periodically. We recommend using calcium as a dosage regulator because conventional test kits are more sensitive (or more accurate) to changes in calcium concentration when dosing Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium than to changes in carbonate hardness.
Maximum dosage: We recommend not exceeding a daily dose of 25 ml of Tropic Marin® Carbo-Calcium per 100 liters of aquarium volume.
Note:
In some cases, calcium and carbonate hardness may be consumed in different quantities than the coral's pure needs. If this happens and the parameters become unbalanced, use the table to make the proper corrections.
