The many different cup corals at CommunityCorals are excellent choices for all experience levels. Chalice corals usually prefer both low light and medium to low current but can sometimes be kept in medium light conditions. To do this, they have to slowly get used to such conditions. Chalice coral shapes range from saucer-like plates to mounds growing over rock structures. Most often they are placed horizontally, but you can also place your chalice at a specific angle in the tank to make it grow in a specific way. Chalice corals should be placed in the bottom third of the reef so they can be held in their "sweet spot".
Some varieties of rainbow-colored chalice have tentacles that protrude from the mouth at night, and they can range from...to.... Mycedium is notorious for its long battle tentacles and should be given appropriate space to grow. You can make your Chalice corals' mouths open by adding some amino acids or food to the aquarium. Feeding can speed up growth. Feed your Chalicen offspring twice a week to help them reach their full potential. Chalice corals generally like more nutrient-rich water, so your reef shouldn't be too clean.
