The genus Euphyllia is subdivided into hammer coral 'Ancora', torch coral 'Torch' and frogspawn coral 'Frogspawn'. The movement in the tank and the easy care make the Euphyllia one of the most sought-after coral types in the hobby. They can have either fused wall skeletons or branching.
All Euphyllia prefer an area with low flow and low light. They are usually best placed low (below) or at the edge of the reef. When fully extended, Euphyllia can take up a lot of space, especially when you're deploying your combat tentacles. Therefore, give them enough distance to other corals. Their mouths open deep beneath their tentacles, allowing them to be fed large-diameter meaty foods like Mysis.
