Sea fans come in many colors and shapes. The gorgonian is a soft coral with small polyps. These corals actually have two types of polyps. The autozoid polyps ingest plankton from the water. The siphonozooid polyps also have an oral cavity, but they absorb water, which supplies the gorgonian with the necessary oxygen. Their shapes vary but some of the better known are sea fan corals, whips, finger corals some more. Sea fans require moderate skill and more attention than some of the simpler coral types available for purchase.
The gorgonian is a great way to add color and life to your saltwater aquarium.
